| SLet there be no confusion about what the "hip lip" is this season. Every fashion magazine will tell you that nudes are in, reds are stronger than ever, and opalescence finishes are hot.
You should always prep your lips first to get them all soft and pretty. I like the Lip Facial Trio by Peter Thomas Roth that has the lemon sugar scrub, the lip putty and the bombshell balm. It's a great value at $60.
Here are my suggestions for both a nude lip and red hot one. Finish each look with a touch of a gloss in a like color, with a light and shimmery finish.
For a nude lip, I like to apply the lipstick first, then lip liner, and finish with a touch of gloss mostly on the bottom lip, to give a really pouty and sexy look.
Red can be the hardest color to get right. If you need a red with a touch of blue, I like Vincent Longo's Fore Plush. If you need a red with a touch of yellow or golden hue, I like Vincent Longo's Americana or Napoleon Perdis' Captain Rum. It's always good to have one universal red liner to enhance a red lip and I rarely think a real red is the best choice. Go with a neutral with a bit of bronze – I like Dune by Napoleon Perdis. Finish with a red opalescent gloss and you're hot! |
